Older Australians deserve a loving Christmas, this year more than ever.

Christmas is an important time for Australian families and residential aged care facilities have traditionally enjoyed high numbers of visitors over Christmas.

Supporting residents’ psychological and emotional wellbeing is important, especially during the Christmas season and after the year we have all experienced.

While vigilance is crucial, our priority is about balancing social and family interaction so that everyone can enjoy a safe and happy festive season.

“Social distancing requirements remain our strongest defence in keeping our residents and staff safe this festive season. All aged care facilities must continue to maintain social distancing requirements which means that some of our social spaces must remain restricted. All aged care facilities must continue to undertake meticulous record keeping in relation to anyone who enters our homes” said Sue Thomson, CEO, McLean Care.

In order to meet the requirements of the most recent Public Health Orders NSW and QLD Aged Care Directives, McLean Care visiting numbers will need to be monitored to ensure ongoing COVID safety throughout Christmas. We are very excited that are residents can enjoy the company of those they love, in a less controlled way.

As always, visiting hours are designed to suit individual needs and we encourage families and visitors to contact us, so that we’re able to make preparations for their visits.

We would like to extend our warmest thank you, to all of our communities for your cooperation and understanding throughout this extremely difficult year. Thank you for supporting us in protecting our local communities, particularly those that are most vulnerable.
