Feel safe and confident at home

The Assistive Technologies & Home Modifications Scheme is part of the new Support at Home Program, designed to help older Australians stay safe, comfortable, and independent at home.

Whether it’s a small home improvement or specialised equipment, McLean Care can help you find the right supports to make daily living easier. Our care partners and allied health professionals work with you to identify what’s needed and coordinate everything from assessments to installation. It makes things easier for you and will allow you to feel more secure and confident carrying out daily tasks at home.

Giving you more choice

This scheme provides funding for aids, equipment, and home improvements that support your independence - separate from your ongoing home care budget.

Funding is available in three tiers, depending on your needs:

  • Low-cost items - under about $500 (e.g. handrails, raised toilet seats)

  • Mid-range supports - up to about $2,000 (e.g. shower chairs, ramps, small communication devices)

  • Major modifications or equipment - up to around $15,000 (e.g. stair lifts, bathroom alterations, mobility scooters)

Funding is generally available for up to 12 months once approved, and your McLean Care team will help you understand what you’re eligible for and how to access it.
